There is much to learn

We had some time to kill before flying out to Hue, so we paid a visit to the Temple of Literature near Old Hanoi. This was the home of scholars over many centuries of those studying Confucianism from its open in 1076 until 1779.

We trekked out to to the airport. Unfortunately we found out both of our bags were a kilo over the carry-on limit. The flight to Hue was uneventful, and we could tell this was a smaller airport after we stopped right after landing.

We checked in to our hotel, the Midtown Hue, a decidedly retro feeling hotel, and the best view we’ve had so far, the Perfume River shrouded in mist in the distance.

A snack sounded good, so we went to Me Me Restaurant to have some of a local dish, seen in their descriptive menu.

We hit up a place around the block for dinner later, Golden Rice. There we had Banh Beo, fried spring rolls given as a freebie, tofu and mushroom clay pot (our favorite!) and passion fruit duck. All very very tasty, and washed down with ginger tea and passion fruit juice.

Calling it an early night, we’ve got a bunch of laundry and an early day as we lucked out in finding an all day tour of Hue tomorrow.
