Smooth as Glass

So begins another trip. This time our travels will be taking us to Chicago for the Laver Cup, and then off to Munich, Salzburg, and Vienna.

As far as walkways in airports go, I do appreciate how bright this one at O’Hare is. I also love how convenient their transit is (looking at you, SFO).

Given how early our day started, we decided to take it easy upon arriving. It is good to be back, as I haven’t been in over 10 years. Definitely appreciate a lot of the architecture here more than I did on my first visit.

Moving a bit further down from the Carbide building brought us to the Chicago Cultural Center, which had a few cool exhibits. Before we got to those, we had to stop and admire the Tiffany dome.

This dome was built as part of this building’s use for the Chicago Public Library in the early 1900s.

This good dog here was one of many scatter about the Magnificent Mile showing off various designs of police dogs. This scuba dog was definitely one of the more interesting ones.

Continuing on to the Chicago Cultural Center, we checked out some of the exhibits that were there. The first was a series of paintings, The Great Lakes Cycle, by Alexis Rockman, the second was a mural done with the public schools of Chicago, headed by Keith Haring, and lastly an exhibit of Ragtime and Jazz in Chicago, complete with rotary phone booth to listen to songs from that era.

No day would be complete without a good meal, and as we were staying in the Ukrainian Village, we had some food from the area, hitting up Tryzub Restaurant.

Thursday

This was a mushroom soup, quite tasty.

Borscht!

Potato Vegetable Pancakes with Mushroom Sauce.

Goulash in a pot, definitely hit the spot.

And lastly an Apple Black Currant Strudel (small said our waitress, our stomachs disagreed).
