Breakfast foods are the best

It’s important to start your day off right, and what better way to start your day then with a breakfast at Whisk, a Ron Swanson themed restaurant.

I had the chicken and corn cakes, and my friends had the steak hash, the breakfast sopes, and the banana berry pancakes.

After stuffing ourselves, we made our way out to Lincoln Park. There they have a free zoo and conservatory.

This plant was cool, felt like really soft fur. You can see the hairs(?) around the edges.

This is probably one of my favorite plants, very cool pattern in the leaves.

After dancing with the mosquitoes (one of my friends got chewed up), we made our way to the zoo. For being a free zoo, I feel it was so much better than ours in San Francisco.

After our excursion, we trekked around Navy Pier, and checked out the various shops. Chicago being what it is, is subject to random weather, and we had to briefly shelter from a quick rain cell.

No trip to Chicago would be complete without pizza! We hit up Lou Malnati’s, and they certainly did not disappoint. We got the Malnati salad, fried calamari, the Lou and the Malnati Classic.

Tomorrow brings us to the Art Institute and girding ourselves for three days of hopefully riveting tennis!
