Fugu-rific

Our last look at our daily walk to Juso station. Note the pachinko parlor at the right that typically had a crowd gathering outside of it well before it opened for the day.

Hooray for more time on the Shinkansen. Today is our travel day to Hiroshima, so not as much in this post on activities, but still, many tasty things to share. Having a lazy morning is always a nice thing to do during a vacation.

Before departing for Hiroshima, we had a tasty breakfast in Dotonbori at Zuboraya. This is a chain that specializes in fugu. With this being my first time having fugu, I was quite excited for the meal. Turns out it’s quite tasty, especially with ponzu sauce.

Since we still had some time to kill, we looked for a dessert place, and found a pancake place a few buildings down from Zuboraya, the Honolulu Coffee cafe. We got some pancakes and donuts.

After a comfortable nap on the Shinkansen to Hiroshima, we hopped on the local tram (“doa ga shimarimasu” will be burned into your head after this tram, if it hasn’t been already) to get to our hotel, which really is a glorified AirBnB. We stopped by the local laundrymat and did laundry. 1300 Yen and an hour later in one machine, we were done, washed and dried. (Wouldn’t surprise me if in the future, it would fold your clothes). Also managed to get in several games of extreme spoons.

Extreme spoons: play at your own risk!

Dinner was a very local place, around the corner at an Indonesian place named Warung Matahari.

Slim activity day, but just as filling on the food. We’re turning in a bit earlier as we have to get moving earlier to get to Manabeshima Island…which if you don’t know what is there, stay tuned for tomorrow’s post. ‘Til then, we bid you a good night.
