It was hard…really hard to wake up today. I am convinced I sleep best on futon, and think I need to get this for home, it’s just so comfortable! After dragging myself out of bed, the group went downstairs for our last japanese-styled breakfast, and as usual, it did not disappoint.

We then settled in for our two-hour, train-induced nap. For the portions we were awake, we were treated to more glassy blue water and forest scenery. Upon exiting the train station, and admiring the tourist office next to the station, a VERY energetic lady came out to greet us (my friend mainly, as the rest of us couldn’t understand). I am told she wanted to get us into a hotel she has a connection with and offered us meals to make up the price difference. Alas, we already had reservations. I wonder how many tourists come up here?

Since we had a few hours to kill, we walked out to the Uozu Buried Forest Museum, which on the surface sounds like a dull place, but actually was a pretty cool museum, that once again, we just didn’t quite have enough time to get through every little thing. The main attractions here are the aforementioned buried forest (or the remains of it) and the Mirage Hill. Given the area, and the weather, it leads to seeing a mirage effect of the shores opposite where you are standing (the weather was not right for it today).

On our way back to the hotel, we stopped at a cafeteria-type place called Menruiteifurusato where we grabbed dinner.

I close this post (but not this day) with a few more shots around Uozu. We are taking a nap, as we are going on a squid boat later at 2:30am.
