It was hard…really hard to wake up today. I am convinced I sleep best on futon, and think I need to get this for home, it’s just so comfortable! After dragging myself out of bed, the group went downstairs for our last japanese-styled breakfast, and as usual, it did not disappoint.
Roe, tamago, and pickles Salmon, miso paste, enoki/spinach, burdock and rofu, fresh yogurt, rice, pickles, and miso soup
Since we had a few hours to kill, we walked out to the Uozu Buried Forest Museum, which on the surface sounds like a dull place, but actually was a pretty cool museum, that once again, we just didn’t quite have enough time to get through every little thing. The main attractions here are the aforementioned buried forest (or the remains of it) and the Mirage Hill. Given the area, and the weather, it leads to seeing a mirage effect of the shores opposite where you are standing (the weather was not right for it today).
Explaining how the mirages work Theories on why the forest was buried Over 200 year old tree Dried remains from buried forest Submerged parts of forest Some geologic history of Japan
On our way back to the hotel, we stopped at a cafeteria-type place called Menruiteifurusato where we grabbed dinner.

I close this post (but not this day) with a few more shots around Uozu. We are taking a nap, as we are going on a squid boat later at 2:30am.
