Slinking Through Sand to See Smooth Shapes
After a very poor night of sleep (something I am sad about, as the beds we had were very comfortable), we packed up and headed to our Antelope Canyon tours. Our first tour of the day was through the Lower Antelope Canyon.
Wandering through the canyons was really cool (both temperature and in admiring the formations). When there are floods, water flows through the canyons, slowly eroding it, and contributing to the smoothness of the walls. Because of the nature of the floods, the canyon is always changing.
Never did I think a bus would be roaring across desert sand, but our tour to the upper canyon had us doing exactly that, which was definitely a blessing, as it was brutally hot. Also, want to say, these tours are very much worth your time. The Navajo guide were amazing sharing their own history, the history of the area, and are all great photographers.
After our tours, we hit the road to our hotel in La Verkin, UT, enjoying the sights along the way. It really doesn’t set in how spread out things are until you leave or more urban centers. For most of our drive, there were almost no cars, and nothing but scenery.
Of course, once we settled in, we needed to answer the call of our stomachs, and given our options were limited, we decided to hit up Stage Coach Grille, and we were not disappointed!
Tomorrow takes us into Zion and to the Narrows. Hopefully the weather is good to us. Til then, good night.
